Every congregation and partner below is helping raise this market. Find yours and volunteer under its banner — it helps us see which communities are showing up, and celebrate them.
What you’re signing up for.
Four phases, like a barn raising: sort, stage, celebrate, settle. Browse the shifts here, then pick the ones that fit when you fill out the form. Take two or three if you can.

Welcome & Check-In1–2
Greet visitors, offer name tags (with pronoun option), distribute resource bags, explain the layout.
Fitting Room Monitor1
Stationed outside fitting rooms. Ensures privacy, manages traffic, restocks discarded items.
Clothing Re-Hang2
Patrols the racks, re-hangs items, maintains sort order, replenishes from back stock.
Resource Table Liaison2
Floats between partner tables, ensures vendors have water and breaks, answers logistical questions.
Photography Support1
Assists Schweizer Photo. Manages photo release forms and consent.
AV Support1
Works with Rev. Bruce on sound, music, and announcements.
Hospitality & Refreshments1
Keeps the refreshment station stocked — coffee, water, snacks.
Safety & Care2
LSURJ representatives on-site. First point of contact for escalations or care needs.
Floater1+
The wild card — covers breaks, restocks, supports wherever the wave hits.

A shared posture, not a rulebook. Tap each to read; we’ll walk through them together at orientation.
01Pronouns first.
Share yours when you introduce yourself. Don’t assume anyone else’s. If you slip, correct yourself and move on without overcorrecting.
02No applications, no questions.
We don’t ask attendees their identity, income, or reason for being here. Everything is theirs. Full stop.
03Affirming language.
Skip “sir” and “ma’am.” Use “friend,” “neighbor,” or someone’s name when you know it.
04Mind the emotional load.
Trans volunteers should not carry the bulk of emotional labor. Spread it across the team — that’s the point of building this together.
05Escalate, don’t engage.
If someone behaves disruptively or asks invasive questions, route them to the coordinator or Safety & Care. Don’t debate.
06Confidentiality.
What happens at the market stays at the market. Don’t photograph attendees without explicit consent.
Take care of yourself
- Take your full break. Hydrate.
- Need to step away? Tell your shift lead and go.
- Witness something difficult? Debrief with the coordinator before leaving.
